A good fit if
- Holding companies that did nothing this year
- A business you incorporated but never started
- No revenue and no expenses beyond minor costs
Not a fit
- Corporations that lost money (that's a Standard return)
- Quebec corporations (CO-17) or Quebec sales tax
- Books that aren't finished: no balanced trial balance or unreconciled bank accounts
- Audit, review or Notice to Reader (compilation) engagements
Not sure? See who we refer out.
What you'll upload
- Business number, legal name and year-end
- Year-end bank statement, or confirmation there's no account
- Shareholder names and % owned
- Last year's T2 and Notice of Assessment if someone else filed it
Questions
Do I really have to file if the company made nothing?
Yes. CRA requires a T2 from every resident corporation, including inactive ones. Registered charities file a T3010 instead.
My corporation had a few bank fees. Is that still nil?
Usually. Minor costs like bank fees still fit the Nil price; we'll confirm when we see the statement.
